William Stankay specializes in custom sound design, instrumentation and sample creation for a variety of clients in the film, entertainment, new media and branded content industries. William designs sound at his Sunfall Records studios, using a wide range of innovative and organic methods to create intricately textured tones and instrumentation. He also designs from an evolving archive of field recordings, traveling to remote locations such as the Arctic region of Svalbard and the South Central area of Alaska to mine for new sonic sources.
William and his team at Sunfall work closely with each client to design hand-crafted sonic landscapes that will help enhance both the sound and score of their creative project, helping their work to stand out in a memorable and powerful way. Our sounds are constructed from scratch and by hand for each session, enabling us to provide our clients with something truly one of a kind. If you have a project in the works that is in need of interesting sound structures & customized sonic architecture, please contact us today.
Recent work includes a custom score and sound design for Vice's "Designing A Plastic-Free World" campaign for Adidas. Stankay created an original ocean-themed score for the spot using 90% Earth-sound and nature instrumentation that he recorded in various parts of the world, including the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic Ocean.
William has spoken about the technique of sound design for the Society of Composers in New York City as part of their Sound Design workshop series and at the "New Approach to Selecting Film Composers" workshop at SVA in New York City.
